Ethical vegans avoid all animal products including honey, gelatine and lactose. They also avoid leather, wool and other animal by-products. Do you crave the widely reported health and beauty benefits that come with this lifestyle, but can’t imagine existing on nothing but “bunny food,” tofu, and almond milk ice cream? Then you’ll be as excited as we were at Costhetics to learn that
Avoiding animal products for one day
can improve your health and improve your looks
Just twenty-four hours of meat-free living once a week can have a huge impact on how you look and feel. This is amazing news for anyone who doesn’t want to go all-in and convert to a plant-based diet.
Do You Have 22 Days to Make or Break a Habit with Beyonce?
Once thought of as fringe dieting, a vegan diet wasexclusively the domain of food extremists and animal rights activists. Over time, however, its health benefits have proven undeniable. As a result, veganism is quickly becoming mainstream and, perhaps even more importantly, glamorous.
“An expanding list of celebrity vegans is transforming the popular image of the “no meat, no dairy” lifestyle that has often been seen as the choice of holier-than-thou tree-huggers in plastic shoes.” – The Sydney Morning Herald
In January of this year, mega-celebrity Beyonce and her trainer Marco Borges launched 22 Days Nutrition and a “Vegan Meal Delivery” service. The meals are
- 100% plant-based
- Made with organic ingredients
- Non-GMO
- Gluten free, soy free and dairy free
The meals are delivered weekly, and clients may choose from three plans that illustrate a practical approach to eating meat-free:
- 1 Meal A Day – lunch or dinner
- 2 Meals A Day – lunch and dinner
- 3 Meals A Day – breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The “origin story” of 22 Days Nutrition comes from Beyonce herself. In December of 2013, she and her husband Jay-Z announced that they were going on a spiritual and physical cleanse that would involve eating a plant-based diet for 22 days.
“The program’s philosophy is based on the concept that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit and on the 22nd day you are well on your way to forming new habits.” – Official Press Release
Despite the profound and positive impacts they experienced during the challenge, the A-list couple admits they have not remained strict vegans. They do, however, say they eat less meat than before and continue to enjoy the benefits of their form of casual veganism.
So can you. We’re here cheering you on.
